Buxton Bulls Speedway will be exhibiting at the Classic Dirt Bike Show, Telford International Centre, Shropshire, February 7-8, 2026, giving fans and riders the chance to learn more about an ambitious revival project that aims to return speedway racing to Buxton — with youth development at its core.

Based at Hi-Edge, Buxton Speedway closed to speedway racing in 2018. The venue is now being brought back to life by former Birmingham co-promoter Laurence Rogers and a group of investors, with plans to re-establish the Buxton Bulls as a competitive and sustainable club for the future.

Buxton Bulls Speedway

A focus on youth development

The long-term vision is to make the Buxton Bulls a force to be reckoned with in 2026, when the club intends to compete in the National League, a level strongly focused on youth and rider development.

Crucially, the revival project places grassroots development at the heart of the club’s future. Plans include the introduction of a mini track, allowing children as young as four years old to gain track time on Revvi electric bikes and minibikes. This early pathway is designed to introduce youngsters safely to the sport while building confidence and core riding skills.

From age 15 and upwards, opportunities will be available through the Midland Development League, with 125cc and 250cc races incorporated into meetings. In addition, Buxton Bulls will operate regular training schools and practice sessions, ensuring consistent access to track time for developing riders.

Supporting legacy clubs and fans

The Development League structure will also give supporters of former or defunct speedway clubs the opportunity to follow riders representing familiar identities. Four teams will race out of Buxton, including:

  • Potters (Stoke)
  • Kings (Crewe)
  • Wolves (Wolverhampton)

A fourth team is yet to be confirmed, with several historic names under consideration, including Birmingham, Coventry, Long Eaton, Ellesmere Port and Bradford.

Racing set to return

Subject to official acceptance, racing is scheduled to restart on Easter Sunday, April 5th, with a four-team event featuring the Potters, Kings, Wolves and Bulls, followed by a full second half of racing.

Going forward, meetings will primarily take place on Sunday afternoons at 3pm, with Saturday evening fixtures at 7pm during the summer months, providing a mix of family-friendly and traditional evening speedway action.
